«Defining the impact of research: scope, methods and practices»

The general aim of the school is to convey PhDs a better theoretical and practical understanding of the impact of their scientific research. In particular, the school aims at increasing the awareness of participants about the importance and significance of the impact of their research as a function of the life cycle of the research itself. Attendance to the school will allow students to learn how to design the impact of their research and will provide them with a basic knowledge of instruments and modes able to leverage on existing stakeholders needs and interest (firms, academia, policy makers, etc.).
The general aims of the school are the following:
- Understanding the impact of PhD candidates’ research as a function of the life cycle of their research
- Understanding how the impact of research can influence a PhD candidate’s future career
- Designing applied research projects in collaboration with the corporate world that can impact management practices
- Planning research as a function of its potential impact on different stakeholders (firms, academia, policy makers, etc.)
- Identifying and leveraging the most appropriate opportunities to fund a research project
- Understanding the most appropriate way to communicate and share the results of the scientific research on the different channels (both “online” and “offline”)
- Understanding ethical implications of research
